Got to visit American Dream (the mall, not the beau idéal, as evidenced by the fact that it is in New Jersey). What a nice day; what a lucky, happy guy.

Movie poster for "The Holdovers" with release date "EVERYWHERE NOVEMBER 17" displayed on a cinema screen

Walked into the little theater in town tonight to watch this movie that I'd been excited for from having seen the trailer. Was not disappointed.

Three men interacting on a television screen with a foot visible in the foreground, wearing sunglasses and casual clothing

Staycation day 2 proved substantially more productive than day 1, but the evening's fare, MIAMI BLUES, is so far a very ugly and mean-spirited movie.

You talking about putting Hulk Hogan, professional wrestler turned actor turned cultural icon in the movie, where he break the fourth wall of the movie he's in by talking to the audience. You, sir... are a raging psychopath. Don't let this town take that away from you. That's it. I don't even care anymore. We got the Hulkster in this bitch, so it's done.

"This is soooooooome football game, and I wish you were here. In fact, I wish you were here instead of me! Last week I told you that Mrs. Moskowitz was expecting a blessed event. Well last night, Mrs. Moskowitz had twins. O-KAY Mr. Moskowitz!" Love how Groucho can seem so subversive while being totally inane.

I really miss the good ol’ days, you know, when it’s like Adrian Adonis, I miss Lou Albano and Andre the Giant, and Bob Backlund and Blue Meanie, and you know, Berserker, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Junkyard Dog, and I miss Conquistador, and I miss Spike Dudley and I miss Dory Funk and Flash Funk and Haas Funk and Terry Funk. It was about the wrestling back then when it was Hillbilly Jim and Bookie and Jerry the King Lawler and when it was Mantaur and Manu. I forgot to mention Lanny Poffo, Leapin' Lanny Poffo.

Saw my first live monster truck show--opened with the emcee saying "I respect your faith and hope you'll respect mine" before plunging into a Jesus / US Military invocation. Stayed standing afterwards for a pre-recorded National Anthem. Then finally, some action! A stunt bike driver who, the emcee announces, is back after a couple of years off. But before setting foot on his bike, the biker grabs mic. "Had a couple hard rides in 2012, and a couple hard life situations, and I turned to alcohol, now you kids that are out there.." Uh, where's Bigfoot?
