A lot of people are down on unlimited screen time for kids but it makes zero mess and the kids love it.

Excitedly reading the 10th GOOSEBUMPS to my kids. Kids: (confused and annoyed) Does anyone ever die in these?

Drawing depicting "3 wise men" following the "star of Jesus" with simple figures and smiling faces.
Don't know how to caption this without being a disgusting braggart, but... Averill drew this unprompted and all by himself. The only things he didn't do were the scallops on the angels' wings (he asked Leila to do them since he wasn't happy with the plain stick arms) and the writing, which he dictated.

For the past few days, upon waking (from nap or nighttime), Sammy will chuckle and say "I wake again".

Averill got a pair of toy glasses as a party favor yesterday, and was excited to "finally have reading glasses". When we got home he put them on and asked me to bring him a book. I obliged, he cracked it open, stared seriously for a time, then said "I still don't know a lot of these words."

The Daniel Tiger episode about ISIL has left me shocked and baffled. Why did they think this was appropriate subject matter for their demographic? How did they get it past the censors? Was this the series finale, or are they going to just have Daniel Tiger inexplicably alive again next week? Why would King Friday "renounce the Savior of my forefathers" when no one even prompted him to? One of the most profoundly haunting things I've ever seen.

"Thomas has seen the answer It came to him in a dream. From now on we've all decided Together we'll stay a team." Thomas' supernatural inspiration to use common sense always makes me guffaw and is the reason I hold up "Calling All Engines" to any better known entry in the canon.

Averill watches Mighty Machines--a Canadian kids program that shows real footage of big trucks and other equipment while voice over actors pretend to be the machines. They constantly use lame puns, but for all the dump trucks, they have never once said "gotta' take a dump!" It's maddening.
