People talk about there being a time when you pick your kid up and put him down for the last time without realizing it. I feel like that might not be entirely true, because you might playfully lift a grown child off the ground at some point. But there was definitely a day, unknown to me, where he laid his head on my chest, fell asleep, woke up, and rose never to do it again.
